    Yes.

    I will be joining an IT firm called Innovent Technology, they are a sub company of a huuuuge company called Harbro.

    My duties will be maintaining databases and all that. Also me and a small team are in charge of moving them from VB -> .NET

    The languages I will be using are

    SQL, ASP, (they are taking me away from PHP!), C#/VB.NET and a smidge of JavaScript (basic validation)

    I should still have time to post, so do not fret!

    Oh, I get to travel abroad also.

    Few companies use PHP when they have enterprise options like ASP and JSP. Those languages are better in most respects anyway.

    Congratulations bfsog.

    Will you be given any formal education/training in C#, or are you supposed to figure it out yourself?
    C# is a much more capable language than PHP, and gives you full access to the .NET platform (applications and all, contrary to VB.NET which is more web oriented)

    have you heard of them? lol

    * edit

    rosland: The company are keen on me going via VB.NET but they said they will send me on courses fairly often, but for the immediate future my c# will just be off my own back.

    I love the syntax of it.

    C# is quiet similar to Java, it's pretty easy

    Until you get to reflection and such :P

    I'm only just learning .NET and third week in we're learning about reflection, next week is threading.
