A bit high, yes? $2.85/gal in Maryland for regular as of a few days ago; who knows what it is now. Fortunately I was able to get a ridiculously high mileage as well: 41.4. Requires not going above 3,000 RPM, accelerating very slowly, turning off engine at long lights, shifting into neutral going downhill, avoiding AC and windows, not going one MPH over 60...and the car is rated for 35. Ironically it's good to do things like corner at high speed as long as you do it in neutral which is an interesting experience; you have to know your car's limits and when you know just how much it can take and stop right before there, it's nice and optimizing.

So 407.2 miles at 9.825 gallons for 41.4 MPG is my current record, up from the 29 I get on average. What about you?

I read some recent report that for every 5 miles you go over 60, that you are costing yourself 15 cents more per gallon.
Unfortunately, we live in the nation that uses and wastes the most gas in the world, so we just have to adjust accordingly.

Aunt's in Philly and while driving to school saw the local gas station had regular @ $2.95. On the way home after school the same station was $3.25. Driving around today in Orlando I saw some @ $3.19, others @ 3.05.

Morons are hoarding gas down here because gas stations are running out, but only because morons are hoarding gas.

    Yeeaahhhh.....

Fortunately I quit my job a couple of days ago, so all my gas is being saved

Paid $2.52 last time (3 or 4 days ago), but now I think it's $2.90 or so. That's fine because it went down from $3.10.

Two weeks ago in Northern VA: $2.39.
    Two days later, $2.59.
    Last Tuesday: $2.69.
    Friday: $3.29.
Thursday in Georgetown (at the cheap place): $3.59.
Yesterday on the road, somewhere in Ohio: $3.26.
Today, my mother in Tampa, "The cheap places are $3.00."

I also read somewhere about a woman in an SUV who drove off the road into a river and was did not want to leave her car because she'd just filled up the tank for $80.

Despite this rapid price increase, I still think we pay a lot less in the US than in other parts of the world.

    Apparently it's $3.49 here.

A friend of mine said he heard a Prius driver pull up to a pump next to some monstrosity of an SUV, start pumping, and lean against his car and smile at her. She muttered an obscenity under her breath as he finished filling up before her.

I laugh at your low gas prices, here in Canada (converting litres to gallons) it costs $4.18 a gallon. In Europe it costs even more.
