My idea is a positive once, since I am an environmentally-friendly person.
First of all, my company is based on the ideal of designing for the 21st century..and in a since I've started to do that by developing more 3D-only Flash sites for my clients, with the latest in web technology. (2D as well..don't worry!)

One idea I had in mind was to show visions of what graphic design, architecture, interior design, and fashion might look like 20 or 30 years from now, and it starts off with a panoramic view of the city that I live in now (intro movie) and you watch quickly as it evolves in the years ahead, until (at the end of my intro movie) you see a utopian futuristic city floating 3 or 4 miles above the landmass where the city used to be at, except now that the land mass has been reverted back to its natural form with rivers, waterfalls, forests, fields. And then as the vistor explores different districts of the floating city, they also view the necessary sections of my portfolio site (resume, contact info, gallery, media, news)

If someone were to do this type of concept on their website, I probably won't mind. And, it's been done a billion times in the movies.

The alternative is that I create an entirely fictional city instead of using my real city. I might have pride for my city, but at the same time I don't want to offend anyone. you know!? :classic:

I'm not sure what the ethical question is here.... ?

Also, the future of the web is most certainly straying far away from big 3d flash sites - it's leaning a hell of a lot more towards little mobile site.s
