    I found this amusing...all of the external CSS referenced by WDF v5 (screenshot).

    Just including framework.css imports a bunch of dependencies:
    Code:
    @import url('framework-links.css');
    @import url('framework-search.css');
    @import url('framework-navbar.css');
    @import url('framework-infobar.css');
    @import url('framework-footer.css');
    @import url('framework-adsense.css');
    @import url('framework-messages.css');
    @import url('framework-awards.css');
    @import url('framework-pagenav.css');
    But better than being in one fat file or, god forbid like WDF v4, inlined in the HTML. Saves bandwidth, plus it theoretically loads faster as multiple connections are established to the web server to download the style rather than one connection.

    29.7 KB. The markup of forumhome is 16.9 KB. vBulletin's single mandatory Javascript dependency (excluding anything else it might load as needed) is 33 KB.

    Excluding that behemoth, I estimate forumhome to be about 75 to 100 KB. Of course, with all the graphics, style, and Javascript externalized, that goes way down for subsequent loads to, well, 16.9 KB for the forumhome markup.

    All those css files to manage would give me too much of a headache to stay on top of. It's hard enough managing just a couple at most.

    It's actually easier when they're separate files. Each one is at most 100 lines or so. Way easier than managing 5,000 lines.
