I went to streaming media.com and looked at their job board. It's good that they actually have jobs in that industry! Also I just learned that Flash 8 has streaming capability (yes, I am behind) and I was wondering if our streaming industry is a big business that offers plenty of job opportunities for Flash designers.

    OR

Is learning how to stream various kinds of media (encoding video) part of the job function of a today's Flash designer?

BTW, What ARE the expected job functions or job skills of a corporate employee/freelancer Flash designer? For example, are we required to know PHP? XML?

I look forward to your valued insight! Peace

Whew. Depends on the job. I'd say XML is probably less necessary when doing Flash. PHP possibly slightly more so, depending on how dynamic the site is expected to be. I daresay learning how to stream has now or will soon become part of the job function of a Flash designer, however, since it has been integrated so tightly into Flash over the past three versions.
