    I really want some free, simple, intelligent software to synchronize my USB key with my computer.

    It should update newer files on one side or the other to the other device. If both are modified, it should ask me.

    Ideally it should be able to have backup built in, too.

    I'd love to hear about solutions in Windows and Linux, especially Windows!

    My Verbatim 128MB USB key came with some software like that... It sucked a fat one though. took up loads of extra space on the device and was slow.
    No ma'am, we in IT don't have a sense of humor we're aware of.

    Mmm, i thought that Briefcase was just part of old Office suites... But now I see if you right-click a folder, go to New, and select Briefcase... that seems to do something anyway. Will play around. Still looking for something that automates backup too!
