    hey,
im having some problems regarding my internet connection., well, kinda. I have my modem connected to a modem/router combo but im using it as a router. I have a computer downstairs that is plugged into the back of the modem/router combo and the internet on it works fine. I also have my xbox plugged into the back of the modem/router combo and i'm able to play online fine. But my other computer will not communicate with the router. It says it is connected but it is only sending packets of information and not receiving them. What could be the problem? Thanks for the reply.

Have you tried switching the XBox and the computer (on the router)? If that reverses the problem, then the port may be having trouble.

yea i tried and the xbox still worked but the computer did not. when i get home, im going to try to plug the computer directly into the back of the modem and see if that works. although that defeats the point of the router. when i used the modem/router combo a year ago, i used both the modem and the router and sometimes when the sync light was blinking, it wouldnt work. the sync light is blinking now but that should have nothing to do with it since im just using it as a router, right? also when the sync light blinked in the past, none of the computers on the network would connect, but its blinking now and one of the computers can connect and access the internet fully. i have a wireless router also and it works easily with the computer that wont connect now. only problem is the firewall sucks and i get booted out of everything and i cant play xbox online with the wireless router

as a side note, i have all 4 ports of my router/modem combo filled. One coming from the modem into the back of the modem/router combo, one from the back of that to the dsl port on the computer, one going from the back of the router/modem combo to the xbox, and one from the back of the router/modem combo to the computer that will not connect. All connections work fine except for the 2nd computer.
