I dont know how long this been out for, but google had made a new search website called SearchMash.com. I think this is much better then google UI. Leo Laporte said that it uses AJAX. Its simple, but its all you need.

The search results are the same, but I like the new look. It has a menu on the side for images, video, blogs, and my favorite... Wikipedia. You could also hide details. The search box is also on top, and on screen.

This feature you would hate or love. You dont have pages anymore. Instead, you click "More web results>>" and you would have more results add to the page. I love this feature "without details" enable.

Hit or miss? I think this is a big time hit. I hope that this would catch on. But I dont think the term "Google it" would be replace be "SearchMash it"

No need to go high-tech. See their Privacy Policy. Or check this news post on it.

And this is clearly an experimental tool. All over the place, "good looking" isn't what people go for during tech experiments, eh? Looks more to me like google's integrating more into their search engine.

Google isn't particularly good looking. Never has been. It's been clean. And SearchMash seems to be similarly clean.
