    Ok so I got Office 2007 2day and overall I dont really see much improvement, although I dont use many of the features in offive apart from word, and sometimes excel for coursework in english and IT. but it looks really pretty and seems to run a hell of a lot slower on my Celeron 2.6 512mb ram. My favourite thing is office has got 2 be OneNote

    What does everyone else think

    Vista != Office 2007. Windows = Vista.

    If you don't see much improvement in Office 2007 over Office 2003, you're not trying hard enough. I wouldn't blame Office for your problems: your computer is ridiculously slow. Just by doubling the memory you'll notice a significant performance improvement.

    I do agree with you that OneNote is one of the best programs, although Outlook 2007 is pretty nice as well. I used it on my tablet PC, and true to Microsoft's word, it works just as well on a normal tablet, and shares text notes nicely with ones digitized through a tablet. I get the impression it's the only product in Office where the development team was encouraged to play around and try to add at-first-pointless-but-ultimately-awesome features.

    Example: type 1 + 1 = into OneNote, and it'll automatically enter 2. It'll even do things like sqrt(1 + (2 * 3)) =.

    I thought that you need *at least* 1Gb of RAM to run anything properly in Vista ... so ... that might be your problem.

    It's also a WDF rule--well really more of a suggestion--to use proper spelling and grammar.

    Vista requires 1 GB RAM. The box says 512 MB, but my system just after booting is already using more than 512 MB. I have 1 GB, and could really do with 2 GB. Unfortunately, I've already filled all four slots and it's too expensive right now to upgrade.

    Interestingly, my laptop's Core Duo 1.5 GHz handles Vista much better than my desktop's Pentium 4 2.6 GHz. Both have 1 GB RAM.

    edit: I believe he's talking about the 60-day trial. I got Vista (Business edition) for watching some Microsoft webcasts about it, and I was a beta tester for Office 2007. It's pretty impressive to see how much better Office has gotten since Beta 1 where it was good in feature set but horrendously buggy.

    Don't have to type fast ... it's a forum not a chat site

    System Requirements for Home Basic edition
    # 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
    # 512 MB of system memory
    # 20 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
    :surprised: bah ... it's the processor I was thinking about not the ram ... my bad.
