    Here's the article:

AOL to Buy Licensing Rights to the Web

April 1, 2007 - AOL Time Warner announced today its intentions to license all web content delivery rights from the Internet Exchange points. Friday, AOL signed an agreement with Equinix, and this week has plans to ink deals with SBC Communications and other IX providers. Ultimately, if successful, the end result will be that AOL will control all information passed through the World Wide Web, and could sub-license content delivery. What this means to Internet users is that at some point in the near future, they could expect to be charged per-page for surfing the web.

They are exaggerating as a April fools joke. The Internet is too wild to control information and content.

If that were true, I'd bet that the open-source community would have been running around making a new "free internet" system and building new servers since saturday.

In a way, I hope that would happen. I think the internet should be rebuilt to be more secure, faster, etc.
