For March of 2007, 44.4% of all hits were from Firefox. 41.2% were from IE. First time I believe that's happened, although it's been quite close before. It then goes Opera at 5.3% (probably half of that traffic is just me), then unknown browsers, then Safari (2.7%), and others. Netscape--all versions--is a lovely 0.2%.

Remember the target audience of WDF and that it doesn't represent the average web user, where IE still crushes Firefox in terms of usage stats.

And for some reason, the order of countries goes US, unknown (that's predictable), and then Japan. The EU, Australia, Canada, and Norway follow, and I know who's been coming from Norway.

And Inktomi uses bandwidth like a cheap whore. It's sapping up much more than even Googlebot...four times as much, actually.

Part of that Opera number is me... it kicks Firefox's butt.

Meh, there's parts of Opera I like (the rendering and some of the keyboard and developer shortcuts), and parts I don't like (the crashing and lack of a true plugin architecture).

Japan? Why do I find that odd. I don't even remember the mention of a single Japanese word or city on the entire time I've been on the forums.

But a 3% Firefox > IE... thats big! How many users do we get, anyway? A forum this popular... 3% might be, what, three million? At least I know I visit at least 30 pages every time I come by.

I don't have any problems with it crashing. The biggest thing I don't like is that there aren't any plugins like Firefox.

Ok, that was an optimistic estimate. An educated guess, or a statement from the guy who manages this site, might be better, wouldn't it?

Yeah but filburt said 3% of hits, right? A lot of people who just see the site and move along probably aren't developers and got here some other way (which means most likely they're using IE). If it was 3% of unique visitors, then I'd be waaaaaay more surprised.

I am thinking about switching to Opera, mainly because its one of the few major browsers that passes the Acid2 test with flying colors. But firefox has plugins which I use alot. I think Microsoft should kill actionscript, buy Mozilla, and make IE8 as good as firefox and Opera, and should pass the acid2 test (which firefox still hasn't passed yet)

If Opera has the mouse gesture plugin that is like the one in Firefox, then I am switching for sure.
