I was thinking.... the action of sending SMS text-messages should be called smissing.

    "Hey, smiss me later".

    :-D

It's better than "text", that's for sure.

well in europe we call it SMSing! So we'll say things like "Hey, sms me!"

You can even throw a twist in... for example "She fu$#ing sms'ed me!"

But the problem with what you are saying Smoseley is that SMS stands for Short Message Service, so the phrase above "Short Message ServiceText-Message" doesn't make sense. Hence smiss may not work. Yet, as filburt1 said, it sure beats "text"! LIke "Are you gonna text me?"... "No, i'll font you!" Ya know?!

Personally I like smissing. Not the actual act, but the name.

Not many people I know ever use the term SMS, and some probably don't know what it is. My monthly phone bill has lines for "Airtime" and "Text messaging."

I say "text" all the time, and I don't see issues with the terminology. Who knows, maybe it's regional.

Any how, whatever you call it, just remember... don't drink and dial!

you must live in the US than. Only country in the world that calls it "text", not necessarily a bad thing, just pointing it out.

The UK says text, it's the only way I refer to it, such as "I'll send so-and-so a text" or "Did you get a text off whoever?".

By the way, I live in the UK.

Yes, I do... and I give people my height in feet+inches

But, I have traveled and thus know the term.
