Hi guys, long time no post but I need a little help and the people here have always provided in the past

I'm trying to search for something on Google but I don't know what terms to use. Basically I'm helping to start a (physical) retail store with a friend, and we want to have a computer in there for customers to use to do things like browse catalogs and portfolios and stuff (it's a body piercing/retail store). I wanted to see if there was any way to have a computer that could only access certain things, and couldn't be tinkered with if the customer was left alone with it. We want to be helpful to them but we don't want them coming in just to surf the net and use our computer how they please.

If there's a way to set this up and have it all look nice and professional (I'd prefer it not be one of those things where a grey box pops up every time they click something they shouldn't saying "you must be an admin to do this!") please let me know, and what is such a thing called and how would I look for more info on google?

    Thanks!
    - gah!

Well, I guess its always a matter on how much you want to spend...

For customers, a touch screen is always great, and there a few Touchscreens on the market,.. ones from HP i hear are very very cool and work well.

Software like iNet protector do a good job at handling the access you want.. But even some simple tools that come one every Windows Vista these days (Not recommending windows vista, of course). lol may even do what you need.

http://www.sharewareconnection.com/titles/restrict.htm < may give u some software that could help you out..

Although - you did say how u just wanted a kind of portfolio type thing going on, suggesting this is on Powerpoint (i know its on keynote) you could add all the content to a presentation you wanted, and then just password protect exiting the show (Then no need for any software like iNet).

    Hope this works..
and sorry about the bad setting out
