Inspired by an interesting thread on a completely different subject on here dating back to just a year ago, I decided to make this topic. My question as follows.

What type of work do you not accept?

    So to answer myself...

What type of work do you not accept?

I will not accept any work that asks me to develop a gambling, adult (soft core, hard core, adult ads of any kind such as escort services), pharmaceuticals of any kind, hate sites, political sites, and spam sites.

I won't take projects that are bound to fail.

EDIT to add: I also won't take fixed-price work.

I pretty much agree with that, except for maybe political sites. I'm not sure what you mean by that. You won't do campaign sites? Even if the candidate's position aligns with your best interests? Besides, it's usually a good source of re-occurring revenue, because there's new campaigns every couple of years that need new sites. I've never done one, but I have colleagues that get a steady stream of work from these alone.

Well I won't accept sites that are adult/pornographic in nature, or that I feel I'm 'in too deep' in. But I'd do most sites. And I'd have to agree with Steve as well.

I don't see a problem doing a political site, although I can understand not wanting to do a site for someone you don't support politically. However, imagine this: you do some work for Obama's campagin site, and you put that in your portfolio. Now if you go for a job interview and the interviewer happens to be an avid Republican, he may not like that you've done work for Obama. So I'd be careful on the political scene.

Funny, I actually know the people who did Obama's campaign site... They're based on the North side of Chicago, and I have a few friends who work for the company (one of which I went to school with).

I liked Obama's campaign site! It actually served as inspiration for the design of http://www.difalcofernandez.com/

Nice Steve! It has a lot of depth. The only thing is that I would increase the line-height on the copy, just to make it more comfortable to read.

I liked Obama's campaign site as well.

You mean antitheistic? I think most sites are atheistic (in that they have nothing to do with God :-D)
