    Microsoft is apparently giving free software to students. I don't know the scope of usefullness here, but decided to share nonetheless.

    nice, it may come in handy to allot of students i for one congratulate this initiative. Although i would be willing to bet this is a way to accostume the future professionals to microsoft products.

    Pfft open source and adobe all the way! Although i did just download MS web developer 2008. I have yet to try it out.

    Get 2010. It's worlds better than 2008.

    Mind you, you do a lot of PHP stuff and it's not so good for that. For that, you will probably want to go with Notepad++.

    By the way, a similar offer is available in bulk for educational facilities and other not-for-profits. For those who may not have seen me post this link previously, here it is:

    The catch is that you get two shots at MS products every 2-year period, and your second "order" must be at least 365 days removed from the first one. That, and the application process is a bugger. There's also an admin fee per license, but it's actually fairly reasonable depending on the product. So it's an option for any group that wants to buy eOpen licenses in bulk.
