I can't believe I did this but I'm now a part of Twitter. We had this assignment that involves networking and social networking sites. And while I regard most of these as places where one can post mindless gibberish. I got involved anyway. So can I get a couple of followers up in here? I'm such a dork.

I would, except that Twit's just a place to post mindless gibberish and I no longer have a Twit account.

I would, except that I totally forgot my Twit login
Twitter is basically Facebook minus features. I don't get why people use it.

I just don't get why they stuck the extra three letters at the end. Totally unnecessary.

One good thing about Twit, though...you can subscribe to the RSS feeds of idiots without them knowing it and get an idea of what the dumb people are doing. You can go ahead and do the opposite once you know that.

It's also good for political stuff. You can get a real good read on things like the Occupy movement (our generation's Woodstock, with just about the same degree of accomplishment) and, once again, figure out what to avoid.

The Tea Party movement pretty much relied on Twitter to get started. Still pretty much does, too.

There actually is a reason behind the Twitter thing. It's to appear that I'm "in touch" with the latest social networking sites. According to some people I've talked to, employers look at this sort of thing. Whether it's true or not I don't know. I'm in agreement that these sites are nothing more than virtual conversation landfill and aren't worth the effort that went into putting them together. In all honesty, I enjoy the sites like WDF where there is substance to the discussions.

Do the "some people" have regular work? I can't speak for others, but I'm booked to the point where I'm working through to at least February at a bare minimum and I don't use Twit. The only people that seem to use Twit to find regular work are the social media marketers who use Twit to talk to other social media marketers on the dime of whoever was dumb enough to hire these people.

But if you can figure out some way to make Twit work in a positive way for you, by all means, go for it.

I follow very few people - but the ones I do follow often tweet links to things like where to find really nice free icons for designers, or a good tutorial on jQuery; stuff I find either interesting or useful.
