    Hey all -

    quick question: what would you guys say (as advanced amateurs or pros) are specific disadvantages of open source and closed source?

    I think I depends on what kind of software you are looking for, I love Joomla for CMS sites as it's open source and allows me to get at the code and add new elements to it, and it's free. But I also love Adobe Dreamweaver and the creative suite. with adobe and its "closed" source I know what I'm getting and what the software can do, and its very easy to find out what the software does, however with open source, it can take a long time to learn all of the tricks and some elements are very hard to get to grips with. I think you will find that both have their plus and minus points so go for both
