What retail (brick-and-mortar, not online) consumer electronics stores in the US are there other than Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City, Target, Wal-Mart, and Radioshack?

Fry's Electronics is a west coast one, which also has online stores. Office Max is another one.

Nobody Beats the Whiz used to be big up in New England, but they couldn't survive w/ Best Buy and Circuit City up here too. I've heard that there are still Whiz's south, atleast in NJ I believe. Also, the wholesale stores Costco and BJ's can be hit or miss with electronics. They dont have every model from every brand, but you can find some deals if you look (and if you have a membership). I'm not sure how far they reach, I know they're in New England atleast.

None of those are near me (MD)...and OfficeMax doesn't have what I want (neither does Staples). I'm looking for home theaters.

Tweeter tends to be a little pricey sometimes, but they appear to have 6 stores in MD.

Just checked and they have one about 10 minutes away from me...unfortunately the price comment holds true, too, because their lowest-priced systems start at $499.
