    It is not possible using Windows XP by itself to password-protect individual files(that I know of). You can, however, change the permissions of folders to restrict access to certain users.

    Agreed - there are 3rd party pieces of software that can do this sort of thing - it's quite an active market so a bit of Googling should come up with something.
