Dude, you trying to get yourself killed? If any of the North Siders see that, you'll get lynched! Not only that, you're a crappy outfielder. You didn't even catch the ball! WUSSUPWITDAT?

Actually, all joking aside, you can't blame that fan for what he did. Alou wouldn't have had that ball anyway. His hand would have hit that brick rail too hard and the ball would have popped out.

The whole thing is just funny, though :-P Me being a Florida resident, I'd be a hero if I was that guy. But you know, my name IS Steve... maybe it was me undercover? ;-)

    From an English perspective:

Some guy in the crowd tried to catch a ball that and got in the way of the outfielder who then dropped it. Dunno if that resulted in a homerun or not but apparently it was the world series and it helped the fielding team to lose the match. Don't know who's in the world series though - baseball comes about 405th in the list of sports here in the UK - NFL and NHL seem to do a lot better for some reason.

Well the outfielder didnt have a chance to catch the ball because the fan stuck his hand in the way of it. This would have resulted in a sure win for the cubs , They have not won a world series since the early 1940's over 60 years ago. I really feel sorry for the players on this team. I think the fan should be banned from a few games next year.:dead:

    Summary:

It was the National League Finals, Cubs vs. Marlins.... the winning team goes to the World Series. The Cubs were up 3 games to 2 in a 7 game series, and were set to win game 6. Many Cubs fans argue that this jumbled play lost them game 6, which would have broken a long "curse" and sent them to the World Series, which they haven't been to in 58 years (look up the "goat curse" LOL) and haven't won in 95 years (96 now). The Marlins went on to win the National League Finals and are going to the World Series. Poor Steven Bartman is in hiding... he's been receiving death threats.

This guy may have cost them one out, but they had plenty of chances to win it. The Cubs shortstop shortly after booted a ball that could have ended the inning and preserved the win too. Of course, this guys is the easiest person to blame, and I'm sure no one wanted to see the Cubs win game 7 more than he did. Now his fame will last througout the winter most likely. Sux for him.

Exactly my thought..e ven if he had caught it, it wouldn't have won them the game. Also the rules clearly state that a fan has to reach BEYOND the wall for it to be fan interference.. so in fact, the outfielder was reaching beyond the point of which he would have been able to catch it legally... all theoretically speaking of course.

I only watch baseball because my roomie is obsessed with it... it makes me go to sleep otherwise.
