Originally was Pre-med, but found my passion to be in computing/web design. I'm excited, but nervous. Any advice to a new Computer Science major?

Take business classes DON'T BECOME A HERMIT. Sorry... too many CSC majors here become hermits and wonder why no one will hire them when they spend 5 years learning how to not talk.

PS good luck! The CSC program here is really hard and has something like a 50% dropout rate

Go back to pre-med. You'll be less stressed and richer.

Man, if I could do it again, I'd be a doctor 10/10 times.

EDIT: or a famous musician or an automotive designer

Maybe... but it's the journey that counts. Some people think that once you get your degree, you have to do that. Also, the path not traveled is always more appealing Look at you, you've got (many) successfull jobs, and a brand new car in a little while... some would say you've picked the best possible route. So go figure.

Personally I don't have the patience to do too much web design... that's why I didn't choose it as my profession, but more of a hobby with benifits

My degree is actually in Architecture. I practiced it for a few years before getting into web development. At the time, the web was a better industry to follow... but today, all computer-related jobs are plummeting due to oversaturation of the job market, poor economy, and overseas competition. I wouldn't suggest that others drop something else they love to get into this industry considering its current state.
