Hi, each time i choose a link to "open in a new window" it does, except it likes to open in a window 640 x 480, i am running 1280 x 1024 and this pi$$ess me off big time.

How can i make my ie default to opening new links in maximised windows.

Please help me before i change back to a tab based browser. ....

Right Click on Internet Explorer Icon on the desktop, and then selct Properties.

From here ensure the shortcut tab is selected, and change the option to suit in the 'run' field.

Hopefully this should solve your problem .

Opera sucks--nothing personal. Use Firebird if you want lightweight.

Good post. Very straight to the point.
    I'm using Opera btw.

I found "Fireball" really is fast. But if you want more customisation and control, use opera.

ffs! sorry justlivyalife, that dosent work, i changed all my ie shortcuts, but to no aval.

I may go back to netscape 7. i have an install for it someplace. its just ive used ie for quite a while, and until now it has been fine opening things in new windows without being a complete arse to me.

If there is a definitive solution to this issue, then i would like to know it.

    Regards

Only thing I can think of is to next time a new window opens resize it to almost full screen, without maximising, then opening a new window, but I'm not sure about the problem you are having...

IIRC, there is no solution to it I hate that as well. I sometimes just hit F11 as a quick fix.

However, you can get tiny 3rd party apps that will auto-max them for you, but IMHO that's unacceptable.

I have moved to mozilla firebird 0.7

Its fantastic, it remembered my web design forums login, and i easily moved my favs across.
Its alot cleaner and i love the old tabs system, i can open in a new window, and come back to it once its loaded unlike ie where it likes to take focus.

-wired - f11 all the time would pi$s me off !

The other thing i love is that i put the sites i visit daily into a bookmark folder, so i just go open in tabs, and then i have 5 sites loaded up automatically.

    good bye ie.
