Do you know if the people behind the video want to publish it, and make some money?

If you don't know, then, you could still post it. I think the worst they could do (if it ever came to them making money), is an e-mail, requesting you to remove the video from your site. If they're not making money off the video (or are using it as a teaser), the artist behind it might send an email, giving you their URL, and request that you put it up with the video (for publicity purposes).

(why don't you hit up Kazaa, and write the name of the video, to see if you can find some more info on who made it)

Unless you made the video or it is under a free license, you may not post it.

ok -- still on the copyright topic, but this time its about a different kind.

Have I got copyright on my site? I mean ive got the little " Tom Parson...." etc. but have I actually got it? Or do you have to pay for it etc. As a friend told me I already had it but im not too sure,

    any help?

and if so - does that mean can sue somebody if I find them with my code or images on their site?

Any work that is tangible or visible with the aid of a device is implicitly copyrighted by the original producer. You can register the copyright for stronger legal protection, but just like patent registration, it can take an eternity (literally years, that is) for it to take effect.

If it is your own work then it is copyright to you be default.

If you're really worried about it getting ripped off then email it to yourself as an attachment through a recognised server and then burn the email plus attachment to CD-R. That way you have a hard copy that has been timestamped as proof of when the subject was created.
