What's wrong with Windows Media 9? I used to use Winamp, but when WMP9 came out I switched and haven't turned back. Oh and no bashing me because I use a MS product

WiMP9 is friggin massive bloatware. I only use WiMP for playing video, and I use WiMP 6 at that.

I don't use WMA because my Rio500 can't play it, but it's just something personal for me to use the less possible MS products. I use XP and that's more than enough.
If we everybody used MS products, they will become even richer, and they won't put any efforce on making better things.
And they put it in front of your eyes: When you install XP, without touching anything, you have WMP installed. The same goes for IE...

MP3 format is getting old, I think the replacement will be AIFF or AAC.

And WMP is sooo boring slow...

    Just my personal opinion

Or, as network speeds and storage capacity increases, we'll see more of Monkey's Audio (http://www.monkeysaudio.com/comparison.html).
    Lossless compression would rock.

AIFF is uncompressed audio... it's a different ballgame than MP3.

MP3 wont go away.. how old is gif and jpg? Yeah.. there's no need to get any different format, you just can't get much better compression than MP3 without loosing vital quality. No need to change a format and make so many devices incompatable.

Also I think ACC is not a free format... pretty sure Apple owns it.

    Yes, that's true.

Look the ACC license: [http://www.vialicensing.com/products...nse.terms.html]. It seems that Apple has just adopted that format, he can not create it.

It can be more compressed, look WMA, it's more compressed than MP3 without losing quality, but WMA isn't patent free...

Also portable players should begin to acept more formats.
PS- what happened with Mp3Pro? It compressed a lot without losing much quality...

I think any portable music player is good with one or two specific formats. Simply because the more features you have, higher the probability of having quirks, and it sure will drive up the price.

BTW, Using WinAmp5 + MMD3 skin. 2-4 seconds load time.

What CPU and RAM do you have to load 2-4 second with MMD3?
You mean in full format, not the mini MMD3, right?

I could care less about compression ATM because I have MUCHO hard drive space... I think I'm up to 1/2 TB atm.
