Firebird is not slow - by gut feeling I'd say it takes at most 0.5sec more, which is a price I'm willing to get superior browsing comfort. (on XP2500+ laptop with tons of optimizations)

IE is so fast because the OS preloads it into memory - if I remember correctly, this was implemented in K-Meleon (another Moz derivative) in the old days...

I'm with filburt on this one; I like Mozilla and its tabbed browsing etc., but it is way too slow to load.

I prefer Firefox for it's pop-up blocker, quick page load, tabs, download manager, skins and bookmarks toolbar.

Browsers can be looked at in two parts.. the browser application itself and the HTML rendering engine. Firefox happens to be my favorite browser at the moment on PC because the gecko engine is one of the best on PC. However there is another HTML rendering engine that spanks Gecko that is not avaliable on PC yet, the KHTML engine. That is what Safari and konqueror are built on. So when im on my Linux box i like to use konqueror. And Safari is a main reason why im considering purchasing another mac. So once they get a KHTML based browser ported over to PC i will probably switch. But for now Firefox is my main browser.
