If you're using WinXP you should see a list of the most used programs. I'm just curious, what's your list? Why?

    Mine:
    1. Notepad - (notes to self: do this do that etc.)
    2. AbyssAudio Collection - with my Sennheiser HD 580 headphones and around 220 hours of music I need this. It's an old version, available thru google - version 1.66 (freeware)- newer releases are shareware. Works for me..
    3. Internet Explorer - some sites need it, plus it lists because Mozilla is my main browser and thus gets excluded from the list.
    4. Microsoft Word - work work work
    5. WinAmp - WinAmp 2.95 in particular. Fast, efficient, plays all formats and looks good with a skin. (An "unofficial" release - get it from http://www.winampheaven.net/)
    6. MSN Messenger - to communicate with ppl on campus...

[1] ConTEXT, a text editor that has syntax highlighting for almost everything, even for assembler files!
[2] Winamp 2.91, but I'm downlading 2.95 now. Didn't knew that it existed. Seems great, it even can rip into OGG.
[3] Irfanview 3.85, the BEST image viewer of the world. Supports almost any image format.
[4] WinRAR, also the BEST compression soft. I've tried 7zip, but it is slow, and the GUI of it sucks.
[5] Liveupdate, to keep my norton av up to date!
[6] IE, my main browser is Firefox, so it is excluded.

Notepad - writing quick notes, editing pages, general dumping ground for snippets of text, useful advice, urls; anything goes.

    Photoshop - High functionality multi-purpose graphics/photographic program web/print.
ImageReady - Don't hate [animated .gif's] ! Its the amateurish user that has given them a bad reputation, not the format.
    Dreamweaver - Code formatting/Syntax highlighting.
    IE (main) - Opera/FF/Netscape - Testing.
Quark Xpress - Mainly college related, print.

    Quicktime player - Viewing videos.
Media player - Listening to music, the fact its pre-installed, nice features. (don't like winamp)

MS Word - Write ups, Essays, CV etc
    Outlook Express - Email.
MSN Messenger - Talking with friends, and occasionaly people I do work for.
Medal of Honour - When you need a break...

The question was what items do you have on the "most used items" area on the XP start panel, but as we are just telling a lot of really useful utilities:

[Yankee-Clipper] once you use it one time, you can't live without it. Both free and shareware version.

[PocoMail] E-mail client. I've tried out Thunderbird but I don't like it, I don't like his interface, plus on my system the icons did strange things. Also tried The Bat, Eudora...

[WinMX] To download music and other media, the best and without spyware/crapware.

[Trillian] For chatting a bit with ppl

    [BSplayer] The best video viewer

    [MWsnap] The best screen-captura freeware
