    Hey,
I was wondering when was the internet introduced to the public? Since I'm only 15, I don't remember when this actually happened. Also, what was the first website, and who claimed to create the internet, whether it be a company or an individual? Thanks for the feedback!

Al Gore somehow claims he invented the internet but I don't see how that works.

Tim Berners Lee had a lot to do with it.

The 'internet' began in the 1970s didn't it?

The infrastructure that became the internet was earlier than that... the HTML concept came much much later.

Found a site here... rather dry/academic but has most of the salient points !

kinda off topic, but not really. There's a site that will let you look back in time- like an internet time machine.

    check it out.

    Yes, archive.org is absolutely mindblowing!

Things like September 11th... there is an awesome catalogue there of news reports through the day... might seem in some ways grotesque, but it is "living history"...

...and visit sites that are now huge as they were in 1996...

    Awesome
