    Ok, after seeing CSSZenGarden, I am humbled, and after reading Glyak's CSS part one Tutorial, I decided to start screwing around with a simple css layout. I immediately hit a roadblock - Suprise! - dealing with i.e.

    I created three classes - a header, main, and menu. I positioned them based on the math in Glyak's awesome tutorial, and tada! success in Firefox. In i.e., not so much. Seems to do with the padding, as when I remove it, Firefox and i.e. show the same thing. here's some linkage.

    Padding on...
    Code:
    .head{
    	position: absolute;
    	top: 15px;
    	left: 15px;
    	width: 700px;
    	height: 100px;
    	background-color: #000000;
    	padding: 5px;
    	color: #FFEEDD
    	}
    .menu{
    	position: absolute;
    	top: 125px;
    	left: 15px;
    	width: 200px;
    	height:700px;
    	background-color: #123456;
    	padding: 5px;
    	}
    .main{
    	position: absolute;
    	top: 125px;
    	left: 225px;
    	width: 490;
    	height: 565;
    	padding: 5px;
    	background-color: #556677;
    }
    Padding off...
    Code:
    .head{
    	position: absolute;
    	top: 15px;
    	left: 15px;
    	width: 700px;
    	height: 100px;
    	background-color: #000000;
    	/*padding: 5px;*/
    	color: #FFEEDD
    	}
    .menu{
    	position: absolute;
    	top: 125px;
    	left: 15px;
    	width: 200px;
    	height:700px;
    	background-color: #123456;
    	/*padding: 5px;*/
    	}
    .main{
    	position: absolute;
    	top: 125px;
    	left: 225px;
    	width: 490;
    	height: 565;
    	/*padding: 5px;*/
    	background-color: #556677;
    }
    Is this simply because i.e. renders the padding sans background color? Or is this a vile M$ plot against mankind? Thanks for the help.

    Nevermind, I think I figured it out. I need to do the box model hack, I believe.
