    PHPBB I will recommend. link is in my signature. You will need experience in PHP/HTML to get any forums to work. Or at least another language.

    I use Invision for mine. Just follow the setup directions carefully and it's super easy.

    I used Invision, but now use phpbb cause its more easier to use and it has more skins then invsion and more are free!

    Invision have recently stopped promoting the free version of their software, concentrating instead on their pay one... in fact, I'm not even sure if the download of the free version is still available.

    phpBB is good, as above, or there's another package called Simplemachines (http://www.simplemachines.org) which is an evolution of an earlier board called YabbSE. I always liked YabbSE so would recommend giving Simplemachines a look, if only to compare it with phpBB.

    This does, of course, presuppose that you have access to PHP. I am not really "in the know" on Windows/ASP free BBS software I'm afraid.
