    im making some buttons in fireworks i have a black one and a red to show on off state.What is the best format to export these as to be used in swish max.Keeping in mind that i want a transparent background

    I'm not familiar with swish max, but I know if you want transparent graphics, you'll need a .gif or .png.

    You will need to export as a gif simply because most browsers do not support .png
    The only other option you would have is to export as .jpg as that will allow your image to remain a little sharper.
    If your using DreamWeaver Mx to create a page go to insert menu - interactive navigation- navigation bar then you simplly have to export the few images you want and load them in its very easy to do and self explanitory.

    As web_designers said, you should use a gif if you're building in html. I mentioned png because png has more information than a gif and can be used in Flash. Not sure if swish max can handle png, though.
