    Hi everyone,

I am contracted to make 5 independent, different web pages for a private company. I need some advice on the pricing from some of the experienced developers here please.

    • Each site will have professional HTML looks, multiple pages.
    • Graphics design will be handled by me. Content is up to them.
    • I will be required to use Dreamweaver templates for post-maintainance by the company.
    • There will be nothing more complicated that simple HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and graphics.

About how much should I price for its entirety?

    Thank you sincerely in advance.

    My opinion:

You have probably 8-10 hours of work there.
Once you get the main page CSS designed, the other pages will be easier.
But you have the graphics to do ...
and you don't have any contact forms? (server-side scripting)

    I would say $300.00

1/2 up front, the remainder afterwards.

Write up a contract that explains exactly what you listed in your post.
Give details, and set a time when the deal expires (like 6 months) ...
they would have your services for 6 months for fixes, changes, and
additions. Print out two copies and have them and yourself sign both.
Do this BEFORE you give them any pages.

Do the main page first with the whole CSS style worked out and give
them a link to your example page. Let them OK the work before you
spend time doing the other 4 pages.

If they ask for contact forms, which mean server-side scripting,
you'll have to add another $100.00 ... which is another 2-3 hours
    of work.

    ... just my opinion.

I always classify projects into their different elements, for example:

    ~layout design
    ~logo
    ~Flash
    ~graphics
    ~server-side scripting
    ~number of pages
    ~time for consulting

and then I price accordingly. The more experience you have, the more you can charge. If you are just starting out, you may want to make things cheaper so you can build your portfolio.

$300 sounds fair, if all the pages utilize the same layout. Though I must say your wording is confusing because you first reference independent pages, and then you reference sites. Are you making SITES or pages? Several sites that each have five pages, that's a different story!

I have an eye for detail like you'd never believe.

    DCScene ...

    Yes, I didn't notice that.

I assume they meant one site with 5 separate pages,
but all 5 pages use the same style sheet.
5 different CSS style sheet pages would take a lot longer to make.
