I need to make available to users the capability to send me large files - so I want them to be able to upload to my website. How do I do this?

How large are we talking, and what type of file?

It is best to have some set criteria for the size/file types.

    I posted a mp3 uploader, on another forum, http://codeless.org/showthread.php?t...ghlight=upload

However, there are lots of tutorials covering this.

    For a straight forward: http://uk.php.net/features.file-upload
    A slightly fancier code: http://www.tizag.com/phpT/fileupload.php
Or, if you would rather create a file upload class, http://www.phpfreaks.com/tutorials/85/0.php

Hope these helps. Post back if your stuck/output an error, a lot of PHP'ers here.

This is for a printing service, so people would be upload their flyers, post cards, business cards, etc. from various sizes up to 20 MB (generally). The file formats include jpgs, png, tiffs, from photoshop, illustrator, publisher, etc.

I'll check out the links, and if I have any questions, I will get back with you.

    Thank you for your help.

Uploading through your website is not really an option for files of this large size.

Upload file size is normally restricted by settings on the server. Example: PHP default settings for a form to upload would be about 2mb. These settings cannot be changed unless you have access to the server settings - basically your own dedicated server.

FTP is really the only option if you need them to reside on your server space.

    There are services like http://www.yousendit.com/
