I've really had it with this problem. It's been bugging me for years. I've had it with CoreFTP, CuteFTP, SmartFTP and RBrowser on mac, and about a dozen different webhost servers.
When I need to upload a large amount of files, let's say, the whole package of a forum installation, if I drop the whole thing into upload, it uploads a few dozen files, and then the connection drops. Usually the message is something like - remote side closed connection. It's an incredible hassle finding where it stopped and manually uploading every subdirectory of a subdirectory of a subdirectory.
WHY does that happen? Can I avoid it somehow?

Can you try it from another location (work, home, campus, etc.)? It might be something your ISP is doing to prevent what they think--stupidly enough--is piracy.

ive done it from home, work, and even another country, same thing! :/
i feared it might be some kind of restrictions webhosts put up, to avoid overloading the server, but i have no idea!
