    Hey Guys,

This is my very first post and I must say im glad to be here.

Im a student at otago University in new Zealand and ive recently taken a paper in web design which has been brilliant, ive gained alot of practical skills from the course.

My question is basically thus: What does the professional web designer charge to create a site?

Ive been asked to create a site for my Mothers small toy retail buisness and im wondering how much i should charge, if at all.

    Cheers for the time guys,

It varies to a ridiculous extent; it could be anywhere from $20 an hour to $2,000 an hour. It depends on what you're delivering, the time constraints, your experience, and the billions of changes the client wants but doesn't realize are stupid to apply to web design.

The infamous million dollar question, it is almost purley subjective in nature.. determin what you would consder fair compensation for the work. Dont worry about what others charge because it will only confuse you. Besides, you will amost defenatly adjust this figure as you gain experiance. Its one of those things you can only truely know from experinace. What works for one person will almost never work for another.
