I am going to be creating a custom drag and drop shopping cart. They want to take credit cards, so I wanted to find out what kind of Shopping Systems anybody might know about that would support a customized drag and drop system.

If I could, alternativly, find out who the 'top' service is for processing credit cards, etc...

    Anyone?

You may want to look into Cube Cart. I haven't used it myself, but it's supposed to be very flexible in terms of front-end design. It's one of the only e-commerce programs that allow you to create fully standards-compliant sites. It's also fairly cheap (a nice bonus) and has an active user and mod community.

We use PayPal at work for some clients, and it sucks. Unfortunately, there aren't many other payment processors in this type of market that we know of that don't suck.

My response was in reference to the drag-and-drop componenet of Aubrey's question, rather than the credit card processing component. To more accurately answer your question, however, we may need more info about what your client is looking for.

When you say "shopping system," are you talking about:

When you say "service... for processing credit cards," do you mean:

For more information about the distinctions between thrid party processors, payment gateways, and merchant accounts, see this post in the SitePoint forums.

Note that I'm not necssarily endorsing any of the companies or products named above, just rattling off examples. All of them have their supporters and detractors.
