hi im just starting out designing webpages. I have come up with a design for my client which i showed her. I just made it in photoshop. Im a little unsure of how to know what program to design the actual page in i want to use some flash and html. However my layout is a graphic box that i have made up. I need all my links and information to go over the top of this box, however layers dont work well in dreamweaver. Should i make the box design in p'shop??? Then import into either flash or DW? only things is layers dont do well in DW and i'm not sure how to get links in flash?

i can email someone the design and maybe they could tell me what programs to use. Need urgent client is getting anxious.

    Thanks

is what i have so far i made the entire thing in flash then imported my swf file in DW8. now i need to put an enter link in the bottom right corner over the brown. I thought layers would work. However when i do this in DW it fails ( when i do it and then check in my browser the layer doesn't show up)??

Erm... layers... they don't exist. They're a ploy made by DW to make up their own term. In HTML they don't exist.

Even if you want to use flash (which I say can be seriously damaging for a site with valuable/useful content, as crawlers can't see them), you'll have to learn the basic web language - HTML and it's sister CSS.
Note on code: If I give code, please note that it is simply sample code to demonstrate an effect. It is not meant to be used as-is; that is the programmer's job. I am not responsible to give you support or be held liable for anything that happens when using my code.

    kelb ...

If the business that you're making the website for is selling
something, you should not have a splash page. The point
of the website is to get the customer directly to their
    products.

Flash pages are great for "gallery" sites, artist sites, photography,
and sites where a visitor expects to just look at things and be
entertained. If a visitor is expecting to purchase things, get
phone numbers to call a business, find directions ... don't use
    Flash.

Give the customers quick information and sell them on your
businesses products. A good example is amazon.com
They don't use a splash page.

It sounds as though you've got a lot to learn.
Start with the basics, thre are some good html and CSS tutourial sites out there and you'll just have to start learning that first. Or perhaps find a local web developer to help you with this site and pay him to show you what he does.
