    Hey,

We are planning on switching a really big client over to a new shopping cart system. We need something really, really nice (and price is not an issue) - I mean like, the ability to have "related products" to go along with each product, suggested items, basically every little "extra feature" you could think of. And tracking what customers view would be nice too, and an integrated module to send emails too (although that's not necessary, we may end up going w/ a 3rd party for that).

I need to somehow find out what shopping cart system websites like Victoria's Secret, American Eagle, and all those big retailers use. I did a little searching and I think that Victoria's Secret uses WebSphere (http://www-306.ibm.com/software/websphere/), but I'd rather do it in PHP than JSP... So I was hoping there was another really good solution out there that was in PHP instead of JSP.

So anyways, what I wanted to know is, does anyone know of a really good shopping cart solution that major retailers use?

I know there's osCommerce but I didn't find any really nice websites (with a lot of extra features, and thousands of products) that use it. If you know of any please let me know.

    Thx,
    H

As a simple side note, because I mostly can't help in this case -- WebSphere is just IBM's J2EE server. If you went with that, you'd have to find shopping cart software that runs on top of it. I'm thinking most of these companies probably have devleloped their own in-house shopping cart systems.

Here are a few certified Authorize.net solutions in Java and PHP:

    http://www.ultracart.com/ (Java, hosted solution)
    http://www.eastland.com/carts.html (PHP)
    http://www.5th-avenue-software.com/ (PHP)
    http://www.shop-script.com/ (PHP)

I'm not sure what the big boys use, but you should probably just call up www.authorize.net (877-447-3938) and ask them.

PS - consider ASP.NET as well... I imagine there are some really nice solutions out there.
