    Hello fellas!

I would just like to know why on earth, Safari web browser isn't showing the <tr valign="middle"> as it should be. My objective is to position my web page layout to the very center of the screen but it only results to a horizontally centered one...not vertically middled.

However, when I preview my work to Opera and/or IE, it works properly. Anyone who can help me out to fix this glitch? I would very much appreciate it. Thanks in advance. :nervous:

Ditch the table and use CSS: How to centre horizontally and vertically?

That's why you should never use tables! Use CSS for a concise and clean remedy.

maybe you need to do td valign=middle instead of tr...
or, maybe your table isn't the height of the screen...

Yes, [minicode]valign[/minicode] is only for cells, not rows. Still, you should use CSS for positioning.

Wow! Thanks guys! I'm quite new to web developing. And a total noob when it comes to CSS...anyway, i'll try my best to demistify it. Is CSS easy to learn?...do u know any site that I could pitch myself over and learn in seconds?

karinne and to all who replied and wasted their time to such a noob...thank you! I really appreciate your help!

    Cheers!

by the way...does that mean Safari can't really read the instruction unlike Opera and/or IE?

Safari is probably doing the right thing: ignoring the attribute because it doesn't apply to that tag. My new philosophy is that, in the majority of cases, if Opera 9 renders a site one way but other browsers render it differently, Opera is right. Why? Because it's the only major Windows browser to pass the Acid2 test. There are even keystrokes built into the UI to validate pages (Ctrl+Alt+V will validate the current page, for example).

CSS is easy to learn, depending on what you want to do. If you want to do layouts with it (you will), it takes time to get used to how things work when a browser renders a page. For just font changes, colors, etc., it's stupid-easy to learn.
