I'm not that great at PHP, or Mysql, or any of that, but I really need a login/registration on my site. Does anyone know of any easy tutorials that I can use?

This is a very good starter tutorial to help jumpstart the process of creating a Login/Registration/Membership system. Good luck

    Metromax ...

Tell us the purpose for having it. What happens once they
register and become members? I ask this because by logging in,
a visitor then has access to things. And by things, I mean other
PHP scripts that check for the "validated member" ... so, even
after installing a membership script, you need to use PHP sessions
everywhere else to utilize the membership.

So, you need to use PHP scripting everywhere on your site that
is "members only". If you can elaborate on the purpose of having it,
we might be able to push you in another direction.

I need it for an online community where users can access their own profiles, and can post in a forum.

That's going to be a really huge program to write.

In my opinion, you should install an existing forum,
like this one (vBulletin) or phpbb ... something like that.

Otherwise, start with Taffu's suggestion and knock yourself out.
    Good luck.

I learned using the script from Evolt.org.
Note on code: If I give code, please note that it is simply sample code to demonstrate an effect. It is not meant to be used as-is; that is the programmer's job. I am not responsible to give you support or be held liable for anything that happens when using my code.

Thanks for the help. What I really need is a tutorial on setting up and connecting to a database. Also, can this be done for free?

I'm sorry if this is off the topic but it seems near to my problem. I got lazy in developing an image gallery where users can upload and add comment on pictures and got 4images. I am also using phpBB for my forums so that my high school batch can post anything there.

It is possible to use one login page so that it can be used for both 4images and phpBB, right? If it is possible, does any one have an idea where to start? I am currently stuck in checking how session id from both software is processed.
