I was wondering how I would go about doing this or if it can even be done....
I want to include a clip of a theme song on my website when users first enter my domain name and the site opens and then after about 2-3 secs of that I want like jets to fly across the web page with the jet noise and then finally gentleman start your engines, is this possible to do, what would I need to do to incorporate all of that?
    Thanks
    Marcia

Your best bet for this is to make a small Flash intro movie.

But, if I may interject my personal opinion -- effects like those mentioned usually **** people off

Find someone who knows Flash and hire them to make the Flash presentation.
That would be the best way (most compatible). There is a section on this
forum for "Request a Service", where you can find a freelance Flash programmer,
or someone who can do it.

Flash intro are indeed fairly antiquated and also decrease the SEO potency of your site. But the storyboard sounds cool!!

I completely agree. Name one semi-successful website that forces sound or an intro onto its visitors? You can't. You can't because people don't like them. Its intrusive and unnecessary.

I think you will find that you will pay someone to do this for you and the time visitors spend on your website will drop dramatically.

Flash would be the way to accomplish this.

And don't intros usually have a 'skip' option? That's what I use every time, so Flash intros are quite useless most of the time...

Regardless of whether or not intros have a skip option (which they always should), having an intro steals the users focus and contributes to a poor user experience.

I always agree that a splash-page or an introduction page is not needed.

The main page should let the user know what the site is all about and
where they can find what they're looking for ... in about 5 seconds of
viewing it with their eyes (without any clicking).

Go to any website and start a timer. See if you can figure it out in
less than 5 seconds. 5 seconds is a long time. Most people will simply
click the back button if they can't find what they're looking for.

That's a good usability test Mlseim. Also not to mention that if your homepage is a splash page you're missing out on having some nice weight to your keywords.
