I currently use the program CORE FTP to connect to various websites, and also do site to site transfers, more because it's what i found in Google and became familiar with as a beginning designer then because of it's features.

Core FTP does work, however I have found various limitations and quirks. I also am curious as to what other programs exsist.

One of the key features, i would love to have available to me, is the ability to have my FTP program be able to monitor the files I am working on and upload them as i save them. I have seen this capability in Dreamweaver, but I don't see a need in purchasing an expensive peace of software, for a simple capability (not to say that Dreamwaver does not have great benefits)

In short, my question is in your opinion what are some of the better FTP programs and why?

(make a list of a couple if you do have them)
