    Hi everyone.

    I'm having trouble deciding how to present my downloads.
    I don't just want titles with links to the download.
    I want to be creative.

    How does everyone else do downloads for their site?

    Or what kind of cool download section designs have any of you seen?

    you could do a list of names for download, but with a twist and do flyouts that have either an image or something about the file inside... i kinda want to do that now that i wrote it, so dont do that its a bad idea.

    Use an unordered list and list items.
    In the list item provide the file name, as well as a graphic. Maybe music notes for mp3s, a book for pdfs, etc etc

    code a jquery fadein/fadeout on mouseover, or a color change on hover

    Ill write you an unordered list tutorial.
    Theres a lil bit of css involved heres the gist though

    ul.downloads{
    overflow: hidden;
    width: x px;
    }
    ul.downloads li{
    float: left;
    width: x px; /*adjust this to determine how many fit on 1 line*/
    height: x px;
    margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px; /*top-right-bottom-left, adjust bottom and right to adjust spacing between elements*/
    padding: 0px; /*adjust for padding youd like*/
    border:1px solid red; /* this will give you an idea of how this gets layed out, remove it when youre done*/
    }

    Thats the gist, ill post the tutorial link wen i get a chance

    one day im gunna get around to writing a few tuts myself... I think maybe right after I finish watching everything I can find on tvshack.net.... seriously my worst enemy when it comes to getting anything constructive done.

    one more idea might be turning a flash "gallery" into a 3D download manager... I kind of like sphere galleries... although not to thrilled with using free stuff junk off the internet and prefer to do it myself... quite a bit of work would have to go into that one... of course i guess it really all depends whats actually INSIDE the .zip and .rar files... I mean if you had an interactive download manager to download a bunch of expense reports... kinda takes the zing out of it.
