Hi everyone. I would like to design my own website but I don't quite understand how the whole process works. I was reading online and I think I would like to do it in PHP or Ruby, but I don't understand what this code is. Currently, I can upload a website from Dreamweaver to my University's server and publish it on the web, but I am confused where PHP and Ruby comes into play. How does everything get intertwined? Is there some sort of compiler for PHP and Ruby?
I have programming experience so Idon't think this would betoo hard for me.

    Start here: http://www.w3schools.com/

HTML is the cornerstone of web development. PHP / ASP / Ruby / etc only come into play with dynamic content.
