What do you want to know about "average joe"?

Your webhost is already collecting stats on each visitor to your site.
Did you look at the web stats that they provide?

Do you have a website already that we can see?

I'm not sure if you're displaying ad banners for other businesses?
Or what you're attempting to do. You could count clicks on images too.

So on that website, what exactly would I click on ... where it would send an email?

It looks to me like you're looking for some sort of ad banner clicking system?
I don't understand the email part, and what is supposed to happen when you click.
Or why is email a part of it?

Why don't the clicks get put into a log where the clients can view the click
results whenever they want? Very strange.

For every link, you'll have to go through a PHP script that processes the
ID and then it does the email, or redirect, depending on whether it's a
link to their site, or an email to them.

You already have the MySQL database?
So you have an ID for each client?
Base all of your links off the ID.
