I was handed over a web project and I would like to change the banner and the vertical nav bar. The middle content is fine.
I created my template in dreamweaver and when I add it, it adds the template but all the exiting content is gone. I look in the code, and the content still exists.
How do I have the template frame the content?
Its almost like the template is covering the content??

ps im doing this project in dreamweaver cs3.

    thanks so much!!

We (I speak for myself), use PHP to include content to a PHP script that
dynamically renders the pages ... using XHTML/CSS as a template.
All pages use the same header, footer, CSS ... and PHP dynamically includes
different files or database queries for the content.

Not sure what your website is, but maybe doing it with WordPress might solve
all your needs ... except you won't be using dreamweaver.

This doesn't answer your question, but might give you an idea of how most
    of the dynamic websites operate.

your existing content should be in a template already. give the editable region a name. in your new template create a new editable region the same name. then apply the new template to the existing page.
