Hey, I want to make a personal website that has a photoblog, a regular blog, and perhaps a portfolio and a resume too. I've been wanting to make this for a long time but I have been so hesitant (and I still am) because I don't want it to be just another boring blog that nobody reads that clutters up the internet. I also am weary of making a website that is not really about anything... that is just for me to post stuff. That's what Facebook and Twitter are for. But my goals are to (1) publish my thoughts, photos, and ideas, and (2) provide a place for potential employers to view my work (hence the portfolio and resume).

So here's my question: Does this sound like a bad idea... like just another pointless blog website, or could it have potential? What's your opinion?

I need some examples of websites that are similar to this... I need ideas for how they did it - layout and such, and what they put in it and what they didn't, and how they organized it.

    I appreciate the help!

WordPress is the best way to operate your blog/cms.
You can find free templates that you can customize for yourself.

Personal blogs are personal blogs ...
You'll be using it for your own personal purposes, so don't worry about cluttering the internet.

Yes go for a Wordpress self hosted blog.

There are loads of themes to choose from (many free) which are easy to customise.

The beauty of the blog is that you can organise stuff into categories.

Just Google Wordpress Theme and wade through the results.

    Good luck!

there are too many things that you should keep in mind while designing a personal website, the design of your site is really important and you must keep attention toward it, you can divide your site into different parts e.g.

    Introduction
    Qualification
    Experiences etc

Make sure that the design of your site should reflect the actual content of your site...

I would suggest having some theme or overarching idea which ties everything together.

Most personal sites will come off as a hodge-podge glorified doodle pad without this idea as central focus.

Wordpress is awesome, since they have tons of support and many plugins. Since it's a personal site just do you it really doesn't matter what others want to read or see.
