It's entirely possible that we are over-thinking this. But in terms of navigational viability, I'm at a loss. Here's the situation (and a link to the beginning of the site design):

    http://www.akeative.com/blackcanyonmedia/#

We are developing a marketing and web services site. We will be offering a variety of services but BRANDING them under separate URL's that will direct to sub-sites within the “main” (BlackCanyonMedia.com) site structure. In other words:

    MAIN SITE: BlackCanyonMedia.com
    ACTUAL URL: BlackCanyonMedia.com
    SUBSITE: ExpertCopywriter.com
    ACTUAL URL: expertcopywriter.blackcanyonmedia.com

And so on. In total there will be four sub-sites for BlackCanyonMedia.com:

    ExpertCopywriter.com (ECM)
    ExpertDesignandPrint.com (EDP)
    ExpertWebBuilder.com (EWB)
    NetPlusHosting.com (NPH)

The trouble with the navigational structure comes in when we have, for example, an "About Us" button/menu at the top of the BCM Index Page. There will also be that same “About Us” button/menu on the Index Page for each division.

Should the drop-down menu be universal across all divisions, like this:

    About Black Canyon Media
    About Expert Copywriter
    About Expert Design and Print
    About NetPlus Hosting

Or should each division “index page”, i.e. expertcopywriter.blackcanyonmedia.com, have its own “About Us” page dedicated just to that division? And if we did take that approach, how would we keep navigation within the overall site uniform and also allow the effective use of breadcrumb navigation?

I’m open to suggestions! Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Drop down list is more preferable. It should be same in all sub sites.

you have details enough for a multinational firm yet split the site up like a band of freelancers under one roof. kinda counter productive and waste of time-resources. this is not "Branding" at all. its SEO trickery and one that wont work for reasons i wont waste time explaining.

    while($get_it !== true){ continue; }
