Hi everyone and thanks in advance for your help!

A client asked me to make a website for his small hotel, where the visitors will be able to book their rooms and pay via credit card (paypal etc). How such a site works? What do I need to do? Do I need any particular cms anything else? Everything from scratch. I have no clue at all! :-\

This is a pretty big project for someone that has no programming experience.
I really suggest you hire a programmer to do the coding. You could also find a
pre-made PHP/MySQL program for "hotel booking".

This is also something that needs to be integrated with the hotel "front desk", as
someone could be booking a room online, using the phone, or dropping by in person.
A hotel owner, clerk, etc. would need to be able to close a room if it was booked, so
nobody can book it online ... and it has to be done in REAL TIME.
    Double-booking a room, or over-booking would be a disaster.

This is a good place to start looking for more information:

You might also look into using an online service that is run by someone else, and your
client pays a subscription fee to use the service. No programming or scripting needed
    on your part.
