    Hello WDF,

Most recently I have begun to debate the market for a web designer. I want to build a strong, successful portfolio, how might I go about doing so?

1.) What certificates should a competent web designer possess?

2.) What college should a web designer go to? (Community, University, Special Interest)
Would a community college, bachelors degree be suitable?

3.) What attributes do employers look for on a "fresh" web designer (just getting into the work field)

4.) Other than certificates, what other attributes would assist the likelihood of landing a good career?

I apologize for all the questions, i'm beginning to really enjoy web design (i'm sixteen) and don't want to be working a dead end job for the rest of my life, hehe. Thanks again.

    -Jeff

I dont have much for you in the way of school information. i learned by researching on the web. i have been doing so for a little more then a year and i am very proficient in HTML, CSS, and getting there with PHP. there are plenty of online certs you can get but as far as freelance your work speaks what customers want to hear. as far as employment, well at the moment there is a huge number of people going to school for this very career and its being taught in high school now as well. this will drag down the pay scale for designers. this is why with what i have learned i have chosen to pursue the different ways to profit from my sites and not sell design. but this is just my take and only worth as much.
