I created an Excel program that allows me to copy and paste a large amount of raw data into a worksheet, run a macro, have information added to blank columns based on information in columns with data, delete rows with certain data, etc. I am wondering whether I can create a website that I can paste large raw data downloads into and have it perform the same steps. Can you give me advice on where to begin? i.e. what type of program should I use to accomplish what I am trying to do, etc?

    Can you define "large amounts"?
I'm thinking of PHP ... but maybe ASP.net might be a better match.
Either way, the server-side script can use a CSV (.csv) comma-separated-variable
file to get data and crunch it for you. I just don't know how big your files are.

If it's an XLS file, ASP (or .NET) can read it as if the spreadsheet were a table. You just need a different (Excel-specific) connection string. I'd suggest .NET would be your better option, though, because I know that it can run programs and things like that (although I'm not sure if it can from an ASP.net page.)

That's going to be a tough one to solve, no matter how you cut it. You may end up having to recode the macro into your web page.
